Blu-Ray Disc
Blu-Ray Disks – The Breakthrough Recording Technology
Blu-ray, also known as Blu-ray Disc (BD) format is developed to enable recording, rewriting and playback of high definition video, as well as storing large amounts of data. It`s developed by the Blu-ray Disc Association, a group of world leaders in consumer electronics, personal computers and manufacturers of storage media.
• For discs with a layer – 25 GB.
• For dual-layer disc – 50GB.
• In addition, it supports multi-layer discs
• Record any HDTV without loss of quality
• instantly jump to any point on the disc
• record a program while watching another
• create playlists
• modify or record programs on the disk
• Automatically search for an empty space on the disc to avoid recording a program
• Web access to download subtitles and other extra features
This is the standard for next generation optical disc format and also known as Blu-ray Disc (BD). Advanced and efficient storage medium has a storage capacity of 25GB on a single layer disc and 50GB on double layer discs. While the DVD, DVD-R, DVD + R are based on a red laser to read and write data, the secondary storage device using a blue-violet laser instead.
The advantage of using a blue-violet laser (405nm) is that it has a shorter wavelength of a red laser (650 nm), which can focus laser spot with greater precision. This allows data to be more well-packaged and stored in less space, so the BR-D can fit more data, even if the same size as a CD / DVD.
